💜 Our Story: From Pain to Purpose
Founded by Richard Katende
The Doksa Empowerment Outreach Foundation was born out of pain, grace, and an unshakable commitment to bring hope to vulnerable children and families in Uganda.
🌱 Richard’s Journey
Richard Katende grew up in a polygamous family where life was marked by abandonment, hunger, beatings, and even homelessness. He was once a boy without school fees, without a home, and without hope.
But everything changed in 2001 during a gospel outreach at Mityana Full Gospel Church, where Richard met Mr. Irvine James Carcary (fondly known as Papa) and Mama Chris. They embraced him as a son, offering love, guidance, and the gift of education.

With the support of Papa and others like Frances Adams, Richard returned to school, flourished, and began to dream—not just for himself, but for others who were walking the same path of hardship.
💡 The Birth of Doksa
Years later, Richard’s heart broke when he saw children with cerebral palsy neglected, orphans going without food, and children of incarcerated parents dropping out of school. Remembering his own pain, he vowed that no child should ever walk that lonely road again.
In 2022, the Doksa Empowerment Outreach Foundation was founded in Nansana, Uganda. What began with just two children has now grown into a safe home and place of healing for over 57 children.

At Doksa, we believe that God never wastes pain—He transforms it into purpose. Richard’s journey is living proof of this truth. Every school report card, every smile after therapy, and every shared meal is a testimony of redemption.
